His face is everywhere - it's not hard to see why!
With Hairspray the movie musical making waves accross America and High School Musical 2 on its way right into a waiting generation of American hearts, Zac Efron's public persona is on its way up-town. He is the it-kid of the present decade and already an iconic American image for this generation of teenagers.

But then coming of age in a Disney movie - even a Disney TV movie that was a huge surprise hit, meant to be a straight to DVD release - can do that for your career. The multi-national giant has created so many stars over the decades it's almost hard to keep track. But in their moment of stardom they glitter right alongside the brightest.
Efron's career began in the TV series Firefly with a guest performance. That led in turn to other guest performances and finally a recurring role on the teenie-tan beach-set TV series Summerland right alongside fellow teenie-popper idol Jesse McCartney and Australian Home & Away alum Ryan Kwanten.

High School Musical was unquestionably his big break. Even had it gone straight to DVD as originally planned and joined a long line-up of B-grade Disney material in the DVD sale bins his "apple-pie" wholesome good looks and singing and dancing talent would surely have earned him some attention... well wouldn't they?

Either way his public celebrity was guaranteed through the cliche TV musical and the nineteen year old suddenly became a household name - right alongside co-star Vanessa Hugens. Since then his name has been clear of scandal and his image has retained that wholesome Disney quality.

A brief relationship with Hugens was on the cards - though it ended in an amiable disaster we are told. Now with multiple movie roles apparantly in the works, appearrances accross all the mainstream fashion mags and a third instalment of High School Musical already planned, it seems he will be quite the superstar even before he hits twenty-five.
Don't you just hate people like that?
But then hell, he's it.
