Watch Out for This Girl!
August 7th 2007 02:58
She grew up in Oklahoma, studied dance and song and broke out onto Broadway completely by chance. She's now considered a musical theatre miracle and looks set to become the first theatre star to make the jump and become a big screen star since Shirley Maclaine.
Her name is Kristin Chenoweth, she can sing, she can dance and my God can she act up a storm! Better yet... she's HOT!
Though her career has contained misfires a-plenty and a string of bit-parts and B-movies, Cheno (as she is affectionately referred to by friends and fans alike) seems to have found her launching pad with the new US TV show Pushing Daisies.
The elfin blonde plays delicious supporting role in the new series that looks set to inspire all kinds of conflict and hilarity. Hopefully her career will finally take the turn in the right direction and we will see her beginning to pop up more often - and with larger roles - at the movies.
Her most exciting future project is a biopic of the life of 60's soul-diva Dusty Springfield - which is presently set for an unconfirmed release in late 2008... just in time for the Oscars of course!
Though Hollywood is about to be flooded with biopic's of singers - inlcuding the "interesting looking" Bob-Dylan-o-rama starring Cate Blanchett as the singer! - and Dusty Springfield is rightly considered inviolable ground, anyone who has seen Chenoweth perform will understand at once why this is inspired casting.
Chenoweth is petit, blonde, with a collossal voice, built for gospel, soul and R&B - moreover she has a face a-la Dusty and the "stage" presence of ten women. Though this particular biopic is clearly very much still in the planning stages and depends entirely on Chenoweth's availability, all I can say is the sooner the better. There's magic waiting in the wings!
Frankly, anything to get this delicious creature on the screen!
Watch out for Kristin Chenoweth. If the world was a fair place she would already be a star many times over by now. As with all things, it's only a question of time.
