The highest grossing actress of the decade...

... is none other than Hermione Granger, also known as the fabulous Emma Watson! The 19-year-old Briton's starring role in the six hugely popular Harry Potter films, as well as roles in smaller films like Ballet Shoes and as a voice in the animated movie The Tale Of Despereaux, helped rake in a stunning US$5.4 billion worldwide for the movie industry over the last ten years. And it seems that no-one is more surprised about this than Emma herself.
Watson began filming the Harry Potter movies in 2001 when she was just 11 years old, and had not anticipated the level of fame that such a role would bring her. “I had no idea of the scale of the film series," the young actress said. "If I had I would have been completely overwhelmed.”
Emma is quite remarkable as a child star in that she hasn't succumbed to the pressures of fame like so many others do (think Lindsay Lohan). She says that her family helps to keep her grounded, as do her co-stars and close friends Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint: the actress describes the pair as being a "unique support system" who, after nearly a decade of working together, have become like brothers to her.
And while Miss Watson has acknowledged that she'll never have to work for a living, she does want to have as normal an existence as she possibly can. Although there are still two more Harry Potter movies to come (both of which are separate installments of the final book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows), Watson is already focused on her academic life, saying that she loves the sense of normality that being a college student brings.
"I definitely want to continue [with University]," she recently said. "I've managed to juggle and balance studying and working well enough to this point so I can't see why I can't keep doing that. But I am looking forward to being a normal teenager and want a normal experience for a bit. Just a little bit of normality for a while would be nice."
Well done Emma Watson, you deserve this!
