The Dark Knight will soon be upon us!!!
August 19th 2007 08:43
With audiences once again in love with Batman and a revolutionary, realistic plot and premise to his name at last, the sequel to Batman Begins is already one of the most anticipated movies of 2008!
The Dark Knight, prompted by a quick moment at the end of Batman Begins - the Joker's calling card - is wrapping filming in the US just at present. And the director, Christopher Nolan, along with Warner Brothers studio, know their hype techniques down pat it would seem.
Check the teaser trailer - it looks set to be a doozy! And we don't even see anything!!!
The casting of Heath Ledger in the covetted (many would say iconic or legendary) role of the Joker raised many eyebrows and caused a lot of negative buzz.
The Joker - played most notably in the past by Cesar Romero, Mark Hamill and Jack Nicholson - is supposed to be an acid head whose trademark is the Joker card from the playing card deck and lame practical joke devices.
Of course in the 60's and 70's when Batman first appeared on screen the acid bit was always left on the cutting room floor. Not this time!!!
Heath Ledger, from the looks of advance pictures, doesn't just drop acid in this upcoming feature. He drowns himself in it!!!
Whether you're a fan of the black winged super-hero or not, it's good to see a movie franchise take itself seriously. Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman and now Heath Ledger and Maggie Gyllenhaal make for some inspired casting. It's good to see that legitmate actors are still what makes a hit these days. It's not all just down to the blue screens.

Welcome to Orble...beware it's addictive!!
Yes, I had my doubts about Heath in this role but it looks like he's embraced it well.
I think I hopped over to groovenomics and voted last night, but I'll look again.

I was just thinking the same as you, Aimzster - that my husband will drag me to this one too, when I'm not really that keen!!

I have to agree with aimzter. i wasn't a big fan of Batman Begins...
ever since a kid i've liked Batman but Begins really let me down. and i do think it might have been katie holmes...she really wasn't needed at all.
even though i don't have too high of hopes for this new one, i am a bit curious.
what do you think, David? do you think this one can surpass expectations or is going to be doomed like most of the other batman movies?
