Sharon Stone's Karma

May 29th 2008 23:50
When Sharon Stone made comments on the Cannes red carpet last week insinuating that the China earthquake was 'karma' for the Chinese treatment of Tibet, she obviously didn't realise that her words would come back to haunt her. The blonde bombshell was reported as saying "I'm not happy about the way the Chinese are treating the Tibetans, because I don't think anyone should be unkind to anyone else. And then this earthquake and all this stuff happened, and then I thought, is that karma? When you're not nice, that the bad things happen to you?"

Stone's comments were said to be "inappropriate" and the 50-year-old actress has apologised for the statements she made. "Due to my inappropriate words and acts during the interview, I feel deeply sorry and sad about hurting Chinese people. I am willing to take part in the relief work of China's earthquake, and wholly devote myself to helping affected Chinese people."

Despite this, her original comments caused an uproar in China, with the nation's state-run Xinhua News Agency calling her the "public enemy of all mankind," while the Beijing Times reported that China's already strict censors for foreign films would not allow any of the actress' movies into the country.

It seems that Stone is on the receiving end of some karma herself.

I think it's incredible distasteful what she said. 60 000 Chinese people deserved to die?

The earthquake occured in an area with quite a few ethnic Tibetans - did they deserve it as well?

One would think she's been in Hollywood long enough to know how to play the game.

Cibbuano, I agree, you can't be flippant about such things, and James, you would think she'd know better by now don't you? Perhaps she just did it for attention - which she's certainly getting - or maybe she just didn't think, at all.

Just from my mearger understanding of Karma I think it is generally considered to be personal rather than collective.

To asume that the Chinese victims of the Earthquake is to say that Karma punishes Peter to pay back what Paul did. Complete nonsense.

As I said my understanding is very meager.

Yet I get the impression that Sharon Stone put her mouth into gear before she put her brain into gear.

Thanks for dropping by Damo, yes karma is (to my understanding) not a collective thing. A whole country cannot be blamed for the actions of a few.

I think she spoke before she thought. Perhaps she needs to work on her internal monologue!

It was a silly thing to say but just as silly is the complete overreaction.

The "public enemy of all mankind"? Really? Sharon Stone?

lol Ruby yes I thought the same thing. I guess a knee-jerk comment calls for a knee-jerk reaction.

It's a shame that all these years in Hollywood has not taught her how to respond to certain situation. It's another celebrity blunder, that too will past.

Hard not to overreact when you are grieving for more than 60,000 of your countrymen. It may have been an overreaction to call her a public enemy but it's a very emotional issue for the Chinese people.

It is also bad karma to rant and swear about people and try to demonise them. Whoever wrote that last comment is in for some very bad karma.

It is graceful to accept an apology.

Em Dy, yes I heard that too. It's understandable, from their point of view... what they've suffered is unimaginable and for someone to be so cavalier about it must have been the worst insult.

Anonymous, lol I can't believe you read all that, I deleted that shite as soon as I could. To anyone reading this, he/she is not referring to Em Dy's comment but to three rather foul comments left by an anonymous (of course) troll. The anons strike again.

Johnny Come Lately, I agree wholeheartedly. And mizcash, you're right it will pass in time, how much time remains to be seen. I don't think she'll be getting a warm welcome in China anytime soon.

To Journeywoman , let me ask you this: if anyone in your family has an accident and your nerbor says it's bad karma because your family is not that nice to others, how are you gonna react? Be careful Journeywoman! You might be in your bad karma anytime soon! The old stone will be banned in China forever, so are the companies that dare to hire her! I am just laughing she had to appologize. I thought she had a hard backbone for what she believes. I guess finally she still is a B like she always be -- choose $$$ over that evil monk, lolol

Sharon Stone's comment about Katrina.

News Reporter: Did you hear know about the typhoon in New Orleans?

Stone: Of cause I have. You know, it's very interesting about that since first, I'm not happy about the way USA treats the Iraqis because I think anyone should not be unkind to anyone else. And so I am being very concerned the election of the next president, because we had not being nice to Saddam Hussein, who is a good friend of mine. And Katrina typhoon ,and all the stuff happened, and I thought, is that Karma? When you’re not nice that the bad things happen. And then I got a letter from the Iraqi Foundation that they want to go and be helpful. This made me cry. And they asked me if I will write a quote to that, and I said I would that it was a big lesson to me, that sometimes you have to learn to put your face down and be a dog to the person who aren't nice to you. And that is a big lesson to me.

The bad news, if Sharon Stone really mean what she said than all people in the world has now relief from the heart crushing burden of,

1. United States 911 terrorist attack.
2. Princess Diana plotted accident.
3. Kennedy and Regan assasination.
4. American soldier who died in Vietnam, Korean and Iraqi wars.
5. New Orlean hurricane Katrina disaster.

The good news, as the world is full of well educated people, we can tell the different between the good , the bad and the EVIL.

I feel bad for Ms. Stone for what she has said.
I felt even bad for Dalai Larma and ITIM as they has friends of cocaine usage.

This lead me to think are they (ITIM) getting their funds from drug trafficker group from Columbia, Italian Mafia ? Hmm....
ITIM if you see this please helps to clarify your group and Ms. Stone connection. Thanks!

Now what I've think the world should react after Ms. Stone terrible "Karma" talk,

1. Cristian Dior HQ in Paris should scrap their contract with Ms. Stone worldwide.

2. All movie makers should abandone her for any lead role in any movie for at least 3 years cause is a Karma to Ms. Sharon.

3. All people in the world, stop believe whatever she said as Ms. Stone was a liar and she not a friend of Dalai Lama or ITIM group.

May 29 (Bloomberg) -- LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA, the world's largest luxury-goods maker, urged its model Sharon Stone to clarify remarks suggesting a May 12 earthquake may have been ``karma'' for China's policies on Tibet.

``If there is a possibility of putting things in the right perspective, coming from the heart, I think that is the best thing to do,'' Group Managing Director Antonio Belloni said at a luxury-goods conference in Tokyo today. The comments from Stone, who appears in advertisements for LVMH's Christian Dior cosmetics and perfumes, were ``unfortunate,'' he added.

``If she doesn't agree, I think we have to acknowledge she doesn't agree and detach us from her,'' Belloni said.

She said that in a fit of anger too, as she says Dalai is a very "close friend" of her, and the way China treated Tibet...

But all that's politics, what has Karma got to do with thousands of ppl dying in a natural disaster that can happen anywhere on earth, maybe tomorrow right on her doorstep!!!

Does she know who died in the quake? Mostly school kids!!! Some dead girl was carried out from the rubble still holding a pencil, and there is a dead mother who died protecting her 4-month old baby, by bending down her body over her, hands to the ground who was sighted by the Red Guard soldier clearing the rubbles... Inside the baby's blanket is her handphone with an SMS saying (in Chinese)

"Baby, if u are alive, pls remember this - I LOVE U!!! "

Then there are reports of victims who could not get out from the rubble, and no choice the medical officer has to hand over the saw to let him amputate their legs themself...

I wonder why Dalai Lama never say anything to defend Stone for her unfeeling words.. perhaps deep down he knows she is wrong too...

She really gave movie producers an inspiration to make a new "101 Dalmatian" movie - but starring her as Cruella De Vil

She claims to have an IQ of 160, but based on the cold comments of the SiChuan quake, her EQ must definitely be Sub-ZERO!!!

She says she is a devoted Buddhist and feels sorry for Dalai Lama and Tibetans, but how can she be truly feeling sorrow for the ppl alive when she can make cold comments of the dead victims of the quake?

One thing some ppl do not know - Most families in China are forced by legislation to have only one child (due to over-population in China). So after this quake, many couples who lose their only child, lose their hope of the future too...

If Sharon Stone said those words because she is very unhappy with the Beijing govt, she should take a look at what Myanmar govt has done for their ppl after the recent cyclone attack on the country...

The China Prime Minister Wen Jiabao and his team rushed to the worst site in SzeChuan on the very first few days, despite all roads are blocked. After seeing the shocking scene and death toll, the weeping minister immediately ordered all medical teams and Red Guards to rush to the various sites as fast as they could.

Many soldiers hv died during the arduous journey, more when making rescue attempts with the victims for the next few days. Many local soldiers went past their own families crying for help, but did not stop as they are on mission to somewhere else, only to come back few hours later to find their own sons and daughters dead already!!!

It was reported one of the solider piggybacked his dead son while carrying his duty the whole day, only to reply when asked why -

"I did not spend enough time with my son when he was alive, so i want to make it up now, even when he is dead!!!"

Dear Mdm Stone,
If u r reading this, i just want to tell u what i feel -

I WAS a big fan of yrs, but as a celebrity, pls use yr fame to better use eg. charity work, rather than adding salt to the pain of survivals of the Chinese quake...

Otherwise, i do not think u deserve yr fame, which u hv earned by luckily starring in some "legs-wide-open" scenes in a few movies.

I sitll look looked forward to yr new movies in future (even though others speculate this is the end of yr Hollywood biz). I just hope is none of those "opening scene", otherwise i would dream of my grandma doing that in front of me, very distasteful i would say!!!

Yours sincerely,
Yr big fan (really)
