Sean Connery Drops Out of Indiana Jones IV
June 10th 2007 08:53
Sean Connery has announced that despite being pursued by Steven Speilberg and former co-star Harrison Ford he will not be appearing in the upcoming sequel Indiana Jones IV. The former Bond star and Academy Award winner has stated that he is busy enjoying his retirement.
The fact that Indiana Jones is yet another in the ever-increasing queue of commercial sequel projects clamouring to be made is hardly inspiring. The absence of Connery's acting clout will not help its chances. Though what it thinks it's doing being made full stop is beyond me! It's nice to know that Harrison Ford still has the impetus... (ahem) but surely it's time he got into drama's. There's no shame in that after all. Perhaps the 65 year old actor should sit down with Sean and have a chat?
No doubt devoted fans will be horrified but frankly aren't we all just a little over the Indiana Jones premise? It'll be 20 years since its last outing in 2009. The Fourth Instalment of the Indiana Jones Adventures as it is coyly referred to on IMDB credits John Hurt, Shia LaBeouf, Cate Blanchett, Ray Winestone and Karen Allen as Harrison Ford's co-stars. Interesting direction and no doubt the effects will impress. Let this be Ford's last hurrah then for God's sake put this syndicate to bed. After all it's been through it surely deserves it.
