'Of course I had a crush on her'

Adding further fuel to an already out-of-control fire comes Robert Pattinson's latest confession: that the only reason he auditioned to be in the Twilight films was because of his attraction to Kristen Stewart. The little-known Pattinson had seen his future co-star in a movie and wanted to meet her, admitting to journalists that he knew next to nothing about the book series and auditioned simply for the chance to meet his crush.
"I read the script and I barely knew that they were books too," the actor said recently. "The only reason I went to the audition was to see Kristen, because I'd just seen Into The Wild."
"Of course I had a crush on her but we are just very good friends."
Pattinson's comments aren't likely to be well received by Stewart, who is clearly fed up with the persistent rumours that the pair of them are involved in a secret romance - evidenced by her lashing out at a journalist during a press conference last year, when he dared to raise the topic of the co-stars' alleged affair.
The attractive brunette has always maintained that the relationship between herself and Pattinson is professional only, and that she is deeply committed to her longtime boyfriend.
As for Pattinson, he claims that he is 100 per cent single and that his fame is a turn-off to most women. "I am young, free and single," he said recently. "I take what I can get."
