Rachel McAdams - a star on the rise
March 12th 2008 22:39
Rachel McAdams may not be a household name just yet, but she's certainly on her way there. Her combination of beauty, brains and acting ability, as well as a fantastic on-screen presence, has seen this Canadian-born actress in many different roles.
Her first major film was as the title character in 2001's The Hot Chick, starring alongside Rob Schneider. It was 2004's Mean Girls, however, that really put her in the spotlight. She played Regina George, the 'queen bee' of an American high school, and she was extremely convincing in her role as a bitchy, conniving teenager. She later starred in the adaptation of Nicholas Sparks' novel The Notebook, alongside Ryan Gosling who later became her off-screen boyfriend. They broke up last year, but the chemistry between the two in The Notebook made the film a hit.
In 2005 Rachel starred as Claire Cleary in The Wedding Crashers, and followed it up by starring in the thriller Red Eye. In 2006 she starred alongside several Hollywood greats, including Diane Keaton, in the comedy The Family Stone. Her character in this movie was particularly likeable - outspoken, smart and witty.
As these photos show, Rachel McAdams is a style chameleon - she looks great regardless of her hair colour, whether it be blonde, brunette, red or with pink highlights! It's her eyes and smile, however, that really make her one to watch. She's currently filming State of Play, which will be released in 2009.
