One to see: The Strangers (2008)

I'd wanted to see this movie for months but my friends were too wussy to see it with me, so when I acquired an advance copy of the DVD I didn't hesistate to whack it on and watch it, alone in the dark. And I tell you what, I was scared. As a horror flick this movie really doesn't disappoint!
Starring the gorgeous Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman as a young couple at a crisis point in their relationship, The Strangers is a chilling story inspired by real events. The couple, staying at a remote cabin in the woods are slowly stalked by masked, well, strangers and the results are not pretty. The film is well shot with lots of spooky camera angles and there are some genuinely frightening moments.
The small cast is great, although I have to admit I had trouble understanding what Scott Speedman was saying half the time. But no matter, you get the gist and he is divine to watch. It's Liv Tyler, though, who really steals the show - she's not known for being a scream queen but she pulls this role off in high style. And here's some trivia for you: Aussie supermodel Gemma Ward plays one of the masked strangers.
I won't give away any more - if you're a horror movie fan who likes more chill than gore, then The Strangers will be right up your alley. Watch it alone at the peril of nightmares!
