Kristen Stewart confirms that she and Robert Pattinson are a couple
October 6th 2011 15:05
In news that will surprise precisely no-one, Twilight actress Kristen Stewart has finally confirmed that she and her on-screen beau Robert Pattinson are also a couple in real life. She accidentally-on-purpose told a journalist from Britain's GQ magazine that Rob was her boyfriend, then later insisted that she wasn't aware she was being interviewed.
Stewart was doing a photo shoot for the upcoming November issue of the magazine when she was asked whether she intended to explore more of the UK while filming her next movie Snow White and The Huntsman.
She replied that yes, she was - "because my boyfriend is English."
Naturally when her news hit the media the following day, she claimed that her slip was an accidental one, saying "I never would have said that if I knew you were interviewing me" - but then, "so much of my life is so easily Googled. I mean, it's like, 'Come on guys, it [their relationship] is so obvious!'"
Apparently she and Pattinson only kept their status as a couple under wraps to prevent fans from blurring the lines between on-screen fantasy and off-screen reality, saying, "I don't think you realise what a big deal it is for people. Well, it is a big deal. They would be 'Oh. My. God...'"
If her fans were wanting more details than that, however, they're likely to be disappointed. Stewart probably won't be divulging any more info about her relationship with Pattinson (at least, not until, oh, a month or so before the final Twilight movie is released!) because she wants to maintain some semblance of normality when it comes to her private life.
"I'm selfish," she said. "I'm like, 'That's mine!' And I like to keep whatever is mine remaining that way. It's a funny little game to play and it's a slippery slope. I always say to myself I'm never going to give anything away because there's never any point or benefit for me."
Kristen and Rob will be heating up the big screen very soon, with the first installment of Breaking Dawn due in cinemas on November 18th, 2011. Its followup is slated for a November 16th, 2012 release.
