Keven Federline - Father of the year
August 13th 2007 05:13
It was going to happen eventually. The press have been barracking for it for ages and doing their very best to cast the most insipid impression of Britney Spears possible. Now it seems K-Fed can actually read after all - or at the very least his publicist can - and has grasped the fact that there's some easy press to be had here.
The once-despised rapper and Spears' ex husband has filed papers for principle custody of the couples two children. Similarly he has had his attorney (and a gang of ex-Israeli army security men!) serve papers on one of Britney's assistants - the idea being to get her to testify as to Britney's skills as a mother.
Spears, according to reports has spent this year partying too hard. Drinking too much. Drugging up, breaking down and ignoring the voices of reason at every turn. Just what the truth is... well no one really seems to care. Just so long as it stays juicy and consistant it seems we are willing to watch as a flock of vultures slowly devours someone who is clearly on the edge of reason.
No one is going to be content until Britney either comes to her senses or loses them altogether in a drug fueled, alcoholic rage that ends in fiery death and destruction a-la Stephen King's Carrie or the willfull insanity of Billy Wilder's Norma Desmond.
To defend Britney Spears right now would be to attempt to defend George W. Bush - foolish and futile! Obviously she has problems, and perhaps it is best if the children were in someone elses care until she sorts them out.
In the meantime, just who is there to help her? The press? Who needs her to act out to make their living. Her entourage of assistants? Who would rather see her drugged up and docile so she is more "generous". Her family? Who have been pushed away.
It would seem that Britney Spears is alone and off the rails... and yet we permit this! Isn't Western society wonderful!
