Katie Holmes' regrets
August 1st 2008 12:06
Katie Holmes has sorely regretted pulling out of the latest Batman instalment, The Dark Knight, as it continues to obliterate box office records. It's been reported that she did so on the advice of husband Tom Cruise, who wanted her to consider other roles.
Katie had initially agreed to reprise her role as Batman's love interest Rachel Dawes, saying "they can have me if they want me for two more [movies]," but then later pulled out, citing "scheduling difficulties". As a further insult, her replacement Maggie Gyllenhaal is getting rave reviews, with one critic even saying she was "a measurable improvement over Katie Holmes."
Insiders say that Tom feels compelled to oversee Katie's career, but since they married in 2006 her acting career has been one flop after the other - most recently the film Mad Money, and the less-than-impressive sales for her Broadway debut in All My Sons. She hasn't had a hit movie since Batman Begins in 2005.
With the future of the 29-year-old's acting career in doubt, she's been devoting herself wholeheartedly to her role as wife and mother. Reports say that she is also deeply involved in the church of Scientology, of which her husband is something of an icon. Holmes is still very much a paparazzi target, and if she stays one while finding the perfect role to display her (in my opinion, considerable) ability as an actress, then there is still a good chance she'll make a comeback in Hollywood.

I do agree with you though, I think Katie can act and if he wasn't holding her back she could perhaps make it big.
