Jude Law assaults a female photographer

Hollywood star Jude Law smacked a female photographer in the back of the head last night after leaving London's Automat Bar. Look, we all understand how annoying it must be to be a movie star constantly swarmed by paparazzi, but surely assaulting one is not the answer... especially when she's a woman!
Despite these pics clearly showing the actor behaving aggressively towards the photographer, his publicist has denied the event ever took place, issuing this statement to the media: "This is all nonsense. Last night's incident was an accident. Jude was blinded by the camera flashes when he left the restaurant, raised his hand to shield himself and inadvertently struck somebody standing very close. He apologised and left. Pictures of this sort can often be misleading."
So is this all a mistake, or are these photos evidence of an assault? And are celebrities within their rights to attack overly intrusive paparazzi? Let me know what you think.

As far as I'm concerned, if I saw Jude Law hiding in a bush outside my house doing a bit of that, I'd stop shooting him.
These photographers might see it as an opportunity to catch him in the act...
To sum up, it goes with territory. You can't make millions off your face and expect others not to try and catch you off your face.
