Jodie "Hot Mom" Foster
August 16th 2007 07:07
She may turn 45 in November but I'll be blunt - dayum!!!! Fifteen years ago the question on everyone's lips was: could Jodie Foster get any hotter? Yes. Yes she can! At 44, the hot Hollywood actress may have lost some of her box-office appeal but she's lost none of her spirit.
Foster can still single-handedly draw a US$65 million box office. That's an impressive feat in an age where actresses are no longer able to draw the crowds. The two single greatest box-office drawing actresses in history are Julie Andrew (adjusted for inflation naturally) and Nia Vardalos! They are the only two actresses who attracted US$200 million plus profits - Andrews in The Sound of Music and Vardalos in My Big Fat Greek Wedding!
This places actresses such as Foster in a unique position. Alongside leading ladies such as Angelina Jolie, Sandra Bullock, Meryl Streep, Hilary Swank and Reese Witherspoon she can still pull a crowd just on the weight of her presence within a movie and without the need for the presence of a similar "big-name" actor at her side.
Presently Foster's movie career is progressing smoothly. She has a movie The Brave One, due for an Australian release on October 11, where it should provide worthy competition for Resident Evil 3.
Foster also has two movies in production with scheduled 2008 release dates, include Nim's Island, already filming on the Gold Coast in Queensland and co-starring Abigail Breslin and Gerard Butler. Her second upcoming project (Sugarland) will see Foster re-unite with her Taxi Driver co-star Robert Redford.
With her career stable if not actually on the rise, hopefully audiences will be seeing a great deal of this respected actress for many years to come. That said, a deviation from the whole "hot-mom-kicks-ass" formula now and then might be a nice idea.
Maybe a well-scripted romantic comedy? Or how about a political thriller? Eitherway, something to net you another Oscar nomination. It would be a nostalgic moment for all concerned.
