It's Scientific, It's Scientastic, it's Scientology and its under attack AGAIN!

Are you a Scientologist? Well best not say so out loud as at present you are liable to be laughed off the streets. Thanks to a series of extremely high-profile incidents over the last deacde, including allegations that Cruise and Kidman split becuas she didn't want the children raised Scientologists, Tom Cruise's highly derrogatory statements against Brooke Sheilds' talk about anti-depressants and the fight against post-natal depression, Tom Cruise's wacky marriage to Katie Holmes, the apperrance of a faux cartoon image of Tom Cruise in a South Park episode which offered a highly contraversial expose of Scientology (while also having Cruise trapped in a closet!), to say nothing of many lawsuits filed by Tom Cruise... or put simply, thanks to Tom Cruise, Scientology has become something of a laughing stock of late.
The highly contraversial religion, created by science fiction writer and alleged boy-fancier L. Ron Hubbard, has not exactly gone from strength to strength. Despite the sale of millions of books on the subject and the inception of many high profile celebs into the fold, its public image is still in the toilet.
Recently To Cruise's fellow high-profile Scientologist and film star John Travolta has brought the religion back into the spotlight by filing a complaint against a BBC documnetarian John Sweeney of the UK TV show "Panorama".
Sweeney has been engaged in creating a documentary expose of the religion and has won himself a great deal of controversy after a clip of the documentary appeared on website YouTube.com displaying him violently losing his temper with Scientology members riled by his use of the term "brainwashing."
While the outburst originally cost the documentarian a mass of credibility, the matter has since been corrected by his appearrance on the red carpet in London where he asked questions of John Travolta such as "are you a member of a brainwashing cult?"
Travolta's response in a letter to the BBC has been to accuse Sweeney of prejudice, bigotry and animosity - and all on the red carpet! What a feast!
The documentary will still go to air in spite of the sudden celeb-fest and it looks set to be a bloodletting once again for the religion. Sweeney's temper tantrum (he has since made an apology, much good will it do him) was entirely prompted by a confrontation with a group of Scientologists who claimed that he was misrepresenting some of what he had seen in his footage - aka brainwashing: "brainwashing is a crime!" says one of the Scientologists vehemently.
No doubt somewhere lawyers of the cashed up institution are sharpening their knives! Anyone here care to read a copy of "Dianetics?" ... I didn't think so.
