Now this movie Teaser Trailer for the movie adaptation of Richard Matheson's book I Am Legend has to be seen to be believed. This looks set to be the action blockbuster of the Australian summer season!
Due for release December 13 Australia wide, this Will Smith thriller looks gigantic! I Robot meets Underworld - only better!!!
In this incredible, tense, edgy story, Will Smith plays Robert Neville, seemingly the last man left alive after the rest of the worlds' population is infected with a bacterium that causes similar effects in people as vampirism.
He spends his nights barricaded inside his house killing off the infected, who come and try to take his blood, and the days (vampires can't stand sunlight remember) outside fortifying his house, stringing up garlic and crosses... and killing sleeping vampires!
However what he does not realise is that there are some infected humans who have managed to hold back the effects of the serum and do not require blood, even though they cannot go out in daylight hours.
They capture Robert Neville and reveal to him that he has become a source of terror to those still living, much like vampires used to be in human mythology - a legendary killer and the last of a deceased race.
It's a brilliant adaptation on a theme. The idea has already been taken to the screen twice, with Vincent Price in The Last Man on Earth and Charlton Heston in The Omega Man. This new adaptation with Will Smith looks set to knock them both out of the park.
Start counting down the days till December 13, this one is hopefully going to be BIG!
Directed by Francis Lawrence (of Constantine fame), and with killer effects, we have every right to be hopeful. The presence of Smith's incredible talents is the icing on the cake.
