Harry Potter release date pushed back

Despite the recent Internet premiere of the trailer of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Warner Bros has announced that it will no longer be opening the film at the end of this year - instead, the movie will be premiered on July 17, 2009.
"Our reasons for shifting Half-Blood Prince to [the northern] summer are twofold," Warner Bros president Alan Horn told reporters. "We know the summer season is an ideal window for a family tent pole release, as proven by the success of our last Harry Potter film, which is the second-highest grossing film in the franchise, behind only the first instalment."
He also admitted that the film was affected by the chaos within the industry caused by the widely-publicised writer's strike.
"Like every other studio, we are still feeling the repercussions of the writers' strike, which impacted the readiness of scripts for other films - changing the competitive landscape for 2009 and offering new windows of opportunity that we wanted to take advantage of."
The good news for Harry Potter fans is that there will now be less of a wait between the sixth and seventh instalments of the film franchise. As for the seventh and eight films - the two-part Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - these films are likely to be released just one year apart, the first in July 2010 and the second in July 2011.
