Do you ever rent movies that you don't watch?

October 6th 2008 12:13
I've found that I've been doing this a lot lately. I have all the best intentions of watching the film, and quite possibly enjoying it, and yet I just don't take the time to actually sit down for a couple of hours to see it. Like with the film Elizabeth. It had something like seven Academy Award nominations and everyone I've spoken to whose seen it has loved it - and yet, it just sat there on coffee table, unwatched and slowly building up a late fee. Same thing happened with Schindler's List.

So out of curiosity I'm asking - what movies have you rented that you haven't watched, and why did you not feel compelled to watch them? Thanks for commenting all.

Schindler's List had the same effect on me. I bought it because it's suppose to be a classic, yet for some reason, the thought of it being 3 hours long never enticed me to watch it. Also, I find that having not watched the trailer of a film deters you from watching - maybe because there's no whetting of appetite.

Sometimes its a case of 'mood'. Feeling silly means no serious films, feeling serious mean no filmsy films. Sometimes if you watch a film just to fulfill your deadline means you don't enjoy it as much as you normally would.

Then again, who knows?

of course you would! It's refreshingly different from many of the formulaic films we get.

By the way, I just noticed the good, the bad and the ugly there!!! Nice one!!

and I also had the Lost in Translation dvd sitting on my tv for the past few days yet haven't come around to watching it. I think it's still around somewhere.. lol... funny how the same film have the same effect on me too! lol

Ha Ha! I really have to laugh at this. I WAS one of those people that went down to the DVD store and smugly rented 5-10 DVDs a week (potentially setting myself up for failure- I know)...well, they have those STUPID deals that bring you in. They dont mention "hey, you're really not going to have time to watch those in a week, mate!"

Surprisingly I used to get through quite a number...Now when people ask me if I have seen a particular film, its either yes, or no - but I did RENT it!!

I feel ya
