Batman star Christian Bale will not face charges for an alleged assault on his mother and sister last month, prosecutors said. Bale had been accused of assault by his mother the night before the London premiere of his wildly successful film The Dark Knight, but now it has been found that there was insufficient evidence to afford a "realistic prospect of conviction".
Bale, 34, has consistently denied the assault allegation, and his rep Jennifer Allen has said that the actor "hopes to put the matter firmly behind him". He will be providing no further comment.
Bale lives in LA with his wife, Sibi Blazic, and their young daughter. He has been a Hollywood actor for more than two decades, with roles in films as diverse as Little Women, American Psycho and the two most recent Batman instalments.
