Star light, star bright

November 27th 2009 19:48
We Aussies have had our eye on the beautiful and oh-so-talented Abbie Cornish for some time, but now it finally looks as though Miss Cornish is set to make a real breakthrough in Hollywood. Her newest film Bright Star - in which she plays Fanny Brawne, the love interest and eventual muse of the great poet John Keats - has critics enthralled, with some tipping the 27-year-old for an Oscar nomination and others calling her 'the next Cate Blanchett'. But in typical Abbie fashion, she downplays her talent and instead calls on the old-world charm of the film's subject matter and script.

Jennifer Aniston: Not a 'Lonely Girl'

September 11th 2009 01:21
She's had her share of failed relationships and has been dubbed "unlucky in love", but Hollywood star Jennifer Aniston insists that she's not lonely. Unfortunately, the trash-talk media likes to claim otherwise, and even the slightly more credible publications like Elle magazine are guilty of misquoting her. A recent interview with Aniston was given the headline of 'Lonely Girl' - a title that the actress claims is unfair and untrue.

September 5th 2009 01:50
She's loud, sexy and refreshingly real: Mila Kunis, the star of Mike Judge's newest dark comedy Extract, sat down with Parade magazine and discussed her love of playing off-the-wall characters. Kunis, who is best known for her role on That 70s Show and for being the voice of Meg Griffin on the wildly popular animated TV series Family Guy, has recently been expanding her acting repertoire with movies like 2008's Forgetting Sarah Marshall and the upcoming Black Swan, alongside Natalie Portman. These are the interview's highlights but you can read the whole thing here.

He may be one of the hottest names in Hollywood right now, but even that doesn't stop someone from being lonely. While the trash talk media would have you believe that he's hooked up with his Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart, the fact is that Robert Pattinson is terminally single - and he can't understand why.

Interview with a werewolf

August 12th 2009 11:52
He's only seventeen but Taylor Lautner has already acquired more fame than most Hollywood stars could dream of in their lifetimes. His role as the young werewolf Jacob Black in the outrageously popular Twilight series has propelled him to superstardom, even before his character played a major part in the story! He gets his chance at more screen time in the sequel, New Moon, which is due for worldwide release in November. Lautner spoke to Interview magazine about how the success of the Twilight series has altered his existence - these are the highlights, but you can read the full interview here.

Fate, nudity and Rachel McAdams

August 12th 2009 09:04
We cried for her in The Notebook, loathed her in Mean Girls, laughed with her in Wedding Crashers and admired her tenacity in State of Play. Now, Rachel McAdams is starring alongside Aussie favourite Eric Bana in The Time Traveler's Wife, as the soulmate of a man with a rare genetic disorder that forces him to live on a different time continuum to the rest of society. It's an unusual role that suits the diversity of the character choices McAdams has made in her career so far, and it's expected to be yet another winner for the attractive 30-year-old.

Katherine Heigl keeps it real

August 3rd 2009 12:22
She's been copping a lot of flak lately for being "too honest", but frankly, a Hollywood star who keeps it real is nothing short of unique. That's what makes Katherine Heigl so appealing - she's uncensored, and not overly concerned with offending the movie execs and major Hollywood players. To admit that Knocked Up was "slightly sexist" and that 27 Dresses was just "a piece of fluff" is simply an accurate assertion as to what those movies were, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who holds this opinion... but as the female lead, she's just not supposed to say it!

Star on the rise: Chris Hemsworth

July 23rd 2009 07:49
Remember this name, because Australian hottie Chris Hemsworth is going to be huge! After giving a brief but stunning performance as George Kirk in this year's Star Trek movie, the young actor has scored not one, but two major roles in upcoming Hollywood blockbusters: the title role in the Kenneth Branagh-directed Marvel Comics adaptation of Thor, and the lead role in the Tom Cruise co-produced Red Dawn remake. Not bad for someone who moved to Hollywood less than two years ago...
