Avatar claims a life

A Taiwanese man has died after watching the film Avatar, from a stroke doctors believe was triggered by the excitement of the 3D effects. The 42-year-old began to feel ill partway through the award-winning movie and was taken to hospital, where he died 11 days later.
The man, who suffered from hypertension, was unconscious when he arrived at the Nan Men General Hospital and a scan showed that his brain was haemorrhaging, emergency room doctor Peng Chin-chih said yesterday. "It's likely that the over-excitement from watching the movie triggered his symptoms," he told journalists.
This is the first reported death from the viewing of James Cameron's epic film, but several movie websites have already had complaints from audiences experiencing headaches, nausea, and dizziness caused by the 3D imagery. The news is unlikely to deter the majority of moviegoers, but if you were planning on taking your elderly grandmother along to see Avatar, you might want to reconsider... and go for something a little more sedate instead.
