Arrested Development movie is 'definitely happening'

Fans of the critically acclaimed TV show Arrested Development, which was taken off the air in 2006 after three seasons, can now look forward to seeing the much-loved Bluth family together again: this time on the big screen! According to GQ, who recently caught up with the show's star Will Arnett, the movie is "on like Donkey Kong" and will feature every cast member from the pulled-too-soon series.
The show's creator, Mitch Hurwitz, has verified the movie rumours and said he already has a script in the works. Considering that there will have been a four to five-year hiatus between the TV show's cancellation and the movie's release, Hurwitz said that a handful of changes had to be made to keep up with the times.
"We're changing some of the Bush references to Obama because we started it awhile ago," Hurwitz told GQ. "And the Bluths may not be vacationing in the Gulf of Mexico anymore. We also might have to recast the part of Uncle Mel, the former action movie star. But other than that we have a clear path."
All jokes aside, Hurwitz is keeping things on the down low until everything standing in the way of the film's creation is taken care of. "Believe it or not," he said, "I do not enjoy teasing our wonderful and devoted audience, which is one reason it appears that I've been so cagey about this. It's just that I don't want to promise what I can't deliver."
"As Mitch likes to say," added Arnett, "we're just going to wait until there's zero interest, and that's when we'll do it."
Naturally a production schedule has not been set in place, but hopeful fans are expecting that the Arrested Development movie will hit cinemas sometime in 2011.
