And then there were three...

Given the recent surge in "third movie" installments, you'd be forgiven for thinking that Hollywood has been running out of ideas! The latest franchise to fall victim to the dreaded three is Ghostbusters, which is set to begin production on its third installment in a matter of months. Despite the fact that the sequel came out two decades ago, almost the entire original cast has been signed on for the third movie, and rumour has it that the original director Ivan Reitman will be taking the helm once again.
Reitman has been off the scene for a few years now (his last film was 2006's terrible My Super Ex-Girlfriend) but is likely to make a return for the franchise that propelled him to stardom in the 1980s. Judd Apatow is rumoured to be one of the producers, and the returning cast includes Rick Moranis, Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Dan Akroyd and Sigourney Weaver.
I loved Ghostbusters just like every other kid who grew up in the 80s, but seriously, Hollywood needs to learn when enough is enough! I can't guarantee that I won't be seeing this one, but it'll take a pretty amazing storyline to drag me back to the cinema for an Ivan Reitman-directed "number three". Whatever happened to originality, Hollywood?

I think Ivan Reitman maybe past it for making a great film. But who knows - it could be brilliant! Can't wait to see everyone buying and wearing those silly GB T-shirts again

Whether or not that turns out to be the case will be interesting. Could be the first time a videogame adaptation has been used to test the waters for a new instalment in an existing film series...
