An Open Letter to Her Majesty the Queen

July 31st 2007 02:27
Her Majesty the Queen

Dear Ma'am

There has been quite a to-do recently about a photo-shoot involving Your Majesty and a photographer by the name of Annie Leibovitz. Now perhaps I am just plebeian, but I'll begin by saying that I have never heard of this Ms. Leibovitz, but I have no doubt she is a photographer of some standing, given Ma'am that she was asked to take your picture.

Now the situation, as I understand it, is that Ms Leibovitz organised a photo-shoot in which Your Majesty's portrait was to be taken while wearing the full robes of the Order of the Garter. However, when it actually came time to perform the shoot, this Annie lady saw the robes first hand and suddenly decided that she didn't like them to the tune of the words "it's just a bit much, don't you think?"

At this point a great deal has been made of reports that Your Majesty took umbrage to her words and left the photo shoot in short order.

Frankly Ma'am I would have been disappointed had you not!
Who is this stupid woman Annie Leibovitz anyway?! The robes of the Order of the Garter are pretty distinctive. Surely she should have known that they would look "too much" before the photo shoot!
Furthermore such tact - that to which she was referring as "too much" is not just a few bits of a velvet with some jewellry thrown in because a Parisian fashion designer thought it looked cool!
You know these photographer's Ma'am, always dealing with fashion people.

Clearly someone forgot to inform this impudent hag that this was not a show for Prada and that the Order of the Garter is actually a somewhat important office several centuries old!

Given the ignorance of her pandering assistants, Ma'am, I think it's wonderful that You chose to inform this Leibovitz woman of her ignorance, and rebuke her for her ill-chosen words.
In fact it delights my soul that Your Majesty walked out on her. It's good to know that over the years You have not simply taken every stupid, tactless, downright idiotic remark with a simple kindly pat on the shoulder and a motherly smile.
It's wonderful and somewhat inspiring news to learn that Your Majesty has an inner-diva and knows how to use it!
Some people may get off on this image of Your Majesty as a "saintly old Granddam" (as the Bard would have put it).
I most certainly do not! It is wonderful to learn that Your Majesty is every bit as temperamental as the rest of her subjects - and every bit as human!

Annie Leibovitz had it coming, Ma'am, and I am thrilled that You socked it to her. The Daily Mail claims that Your Majesty is trying to kill the BBC documentary A Year With the Queen, which features this incident, due to fears that it may make Your Majesty's subjects think less of you.
Trust me Ma'am. Quite the opposite!!!
Please! Please!! Please!!! Let us see You kick this woman's ass!!!!!

Your Humble Servant
