A true Hollywood star
December 6th 2008 08:23
Australian-born actress Cate Blanchett has cemented her status as a Hollywood great, with her own star on the Walk of Fame.
"Oh my goodness!" she shrieked as the star was unveiled. It now sits on the Hollywood Boulevarde alongside 2,375 others.
Cate was also happy with the location of her star, outside the famous Egyptian Theatre. "Location, location, location," she said. "I thought I'd be outside the men's urinals like five miles from here, but I'm outside the Egyptian which is also incredible to me."
The 39-year-old is currently in Los Angeles promoting her new film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, co-starring another Hollywood legend, Brad Pitt. Critics are already saying that her role in the film could lead to yet another Oscar nomination.
"This is utterly incredible to me," said Blanchett.

But I did hear they release the stars in prominent positions and then move them a month later. Next month she may just get her urinal positioning.

Hope she gets another Academy Award for this film - just to make up for 1998 when Gwyneth Paltrow won for Shakespeare In Love. Cate's performance in Elizabeth was far better than Gwyneth's. I thought Shakespeare in Love was a good film - but if Cate didn't win then maybe Meryl Streep in 'One True Thing', or Emily Watson in 'Hilary and Jackie' could have won it.
Oh the injustice.
My friend claims Gwyneth may never win an Oscar again or even be nominated for one in the future, whereas Cate is so talented and diverse in her roles she'll keep getting nominated and win more than Gwyneth anyway.
So now that I've got that out of my system...Cate is great. Good for her on getting her Hollywood Star on the Walk of Fame.
