A nude scene for Harry Potter?

December 8th 2009 22:08
Daniel Radcliffe is no stranger to performing in the buff, but he's certainly never done it as Harry Potter! According to reports, however, there will be not one, but two nude scenes for the young wizard in Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows. Radcliffe, 20, is very comfortable with nude scenes but I'm not so sure about his audience... it will definitely be interesting to see how the filmmakers manage to pull this off while keeping the family-friendly vibe of the film series intact.

The director of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows - which, in case you hadn't heard, is being split into two films - said that the production team were still considering how to manage the nudity that the books called for. "There are a couple of scenes in the new film in which he will undress but we're still thinking about how we present it," David Yates said.

"The scene occurs when Harry's best friend and Hermione's love interest Ron Weasley, played by Rupert Grint, is battling a monster which tries to defend itself by flashing a series of images where Harry and Hermione are kissing and embracing. We’ll create something that feels very sexy and very intriguing to bring about a reaction in Rupert," he added.

"There is another scene in Kings Cross station, where Harry almost dies and sees Dumbledore. In that scene he will also be naked," the director said.

As for Radcliffe himself, he's always maintained that nudity is not a big deal, having grown up in a household where his family were often undressed around one another. Like many actors, he found that performing nude was something that he became comfortable with very quickly: "It never really was an issue. I don't know why, it probably should have been. I am terribly self-conscious," the young star said.

The first installment of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows is due to hit cinemas in late 2010.
